Elle Macpherson's ex and Uma Thurman's on-off fiancé appears in the latest Harper's Bazaar in a photograph that simply reeks of animal magnetism, all because of the addition of a single prop: a lit cigarette. Curiously, another previously ungainly figure has been transformed behind a veil of smoke. In last week's copy of ShortList magazine, portly comic actor James Corden, was similarly transformed into a far steelier and edgier character, again via the touch of La Diva Nicotina.

Here are ten of the deadliest nightclub fire disasters from 1940-2009. Though almost 60 years separates the oldest from the most recent, common threads run through all of these nightclub fires, overcrowding, locked exits, flammable decorative and construction materials, making them, in most cases, preventable catastrophes.  

Community Concert launched its 62nd season ticket membership drive on Feb. 20 and announced the 2010-11 programming line-up for its annual four-concert subscription series. The 2010-11 season will feature a classical-musical theater, instrumental, pop and nostalgic offerings at the Saenger Theatre in Biloxi. This year "early-bird special" is available to season ticket subscribers in all of the membership categories of regular, patron, sponsor, benefactor and corporate.
